Reptiles
Lots of animals are reptiles. Turtles, snakes, crocs and lizards are reptiles.

Reptiles' scales are hard. The scales help protect them from getting hurt.
Scales
Most reptiles lay eggs that have soft shells. They lay their eggs on land. Their babies grow inside the eggs. Then the babies hatch by breaking out of the shell.

Being cold-blooded means that reptiles need to get warm from the heat of the sun. If they get too hot, they must find shade to help them cool down.
This lizard is getting warm from the heat of the sun.
Some reptiles live on land.

Some reptiles spend a lot of time in the water.
