A bat can see well. But in the air at night, a bat needs its ears.
A bat can make a high clicking sound. When the sound hits a thing, the sound can bounce back to the bat. This is an echo. From this echo, a bat can tell wh(a)t is near it.
An echo tells this bat that a bug is near.
