Hippos
Hippos live in Africa. Africa is hot.
Hippos do not like the heat. In the day they live in rivers and lakes. The water keeps them cool.
At night they go onto the land. They eat grass on the land.
Hippos do not float or swim in rivers.
A hippo sinks to the bottom of the river. It then moves around by pushing off the bottom with its feet.
Under the water, a hippo's nostrils and ears fold shut to keep water out. A hippo can stay under the water for a long time.
A hippo has big tusks. A hippo has tusks so it can fight attackers.
